We we out today and saw a snowy on a fence post and one in a tree. We looked away from the fence snowy to the tree. Looked back.....where'd the fence snowy go?
Well we saw it minute later in the snow. We were unsure if it was just a snow mound at first but soon saw it as it flew up to a tree. I must have attempted a catch and face planted because it manage to get a bunch of snow in its left eye. Didn't seem to bother him too much .

Looks like the owl is winking at you!

Again, nice shot. I wish we had snowy's in Scotland, they are really stunning birds. They only seem to occasionally turn up on the Northern Isles though.

Check Ebird once in a while. I see the northern reports but there have been numerous reports in the northern part of the mainland.

You're so lucky to have them around you in abundance, they're a beautiful bird. Nice capture.
Thank you. But I have winter as well. It all balances out.

There's always a trade off it seems.

Some days are like that. Great shot. Would love to see one of these in the wild.

Thanks mate, that's a cool site, I'll keep an eye on it though no sightings on the mainland in the last 10 years. I did read a group of around 6 were regular visiters to Lewis, so may have to take a trip up there. Food for thought anyway!
