I don't know. On the one hand, I think it looks cool and I like it. But if I ask myself why and what I like about it, it screams "overprocessed" at me.
I think it depends what you're going for. If that's what you're going for - then it worked. However in general I think if you're going to take such a radical shot then you'd want the actual face in the shot to be equally radical, and this man's face--from its physical features to its emotional expression--is a bit too tame or ordinary in this regard and it's as if the photo's trying to make the face into something that it isn't naturally.
Maybe you should have tried face-HDR ( I read about that in a magazine, they were talking about some stuff that eyes need a lower exposure a.s.o.).
Not putting it in high B&W contrasts.
I like the idea, but not the way you got there.
