This was during peak business hours, btw. This is as busy as it gets.

Greenville (Texas) seems to want to run all of the businesses out of town. I don't live there anymore, but it seems like they got what they wanted.

This was taken in the mall, during the hours that any other mall would be "hopping". See what you want in it, I see decay. A dying town. I think they want to die, and I'm not going to stand in the way.

You have a wide range of lighting here, and that makes the scene a challenge. But I do sense the emptiness that you are portraying with the shuttered storefronts but not decay.

Many malls are struggling, for many reasons. I suggest turn some of them into big box hospitals and "bury your own body" (BYOB) graveyards next door.

This really needs the text to go with it, otherwise it just looks like you were the last person to leave the mall one evening. Good looking photo, though.

Explanatory text would make the photo more meaningful to those of us looking at it "cold", from the outside. Even a more descriptive title would help. Yes, it does look desolate, but I thought it was taken at closing time in some mall. I am NOT one of the people that thinks a photo must stand on its own with no title and no text. I believe the opposite, in fact, especially when trying to convey abstract ideas and thoughts. Now that I have heard what the shot is about, it make sense, and I get a better sense of fulfillment seeing this picture.

All I can really think of is that maybe they don't like being so close to Dallas, so they want to drive all of the "city people" away.

This empty mall isn't some accident though - it seems to be the way they want it to be. There are only three stores and one pizza place open in the entire mall. That JCPenney at the end is smaller than the grocery store there. You can literally see the entire store from the front door. I heard rumors that they were going to knock the mall down and build something else there, but they've been saying that for years.

It looks like the plan is to build an "oasis of peace" for some specific target group of people.

Yeah, I guess a short paragraph with some background information would help. I'm not really in the "the photo should speak for itself" camp either, except for when I am. LOL. I don't think it MUST speak for itself, but if it can - great. I guess this just isn't one of those.

I don't even really like naming pictures. That's why I tend to go with sort of abstract, open ended names, like this one. I chose Fait Acompli because it seemed fitting - this isn't an accident or bad luck, this is the goal. This is how it was meant to be, therefore, it will not change.

Decay was probably the wrong word to use.

I'm not totally sure what would be more appropriate. Apathy, maybe.
