What's new

Fall photo shoot. Let me know your opinions!

Really like #2 a lot. #1 and #5 seem to be a bit off on color, perhaps a bit too yellowish? I like #3 as well, except for the stem of the leaf cutting right across her eyes, that's distracting.

Thank you!

That leaf really bothers me too :x

Someone with good Photoshop skills might be able to take that stem out, it would almost look like she had a leaf placed in her hair then. I know if I tried it I'd end up with a visible line across her face, but I bet it could be done.

I could probably do that, I didn't even think to try.
Will have to try it out and see how it looks.

I'm not digging the color in #1, some might like it but it's not my cup of tea.
The 2nd one has a nice feel, but I don't like her expression or her disembodied hand.

I do really like the last one. The pose is much better than the other images, she's smiling and engaging the viewer, the lighting is great, the processing is good...very nice. I would like it if her face was a little brighter though.

For future reference, give some space between your photos when you put the link/img code in a post. Also, it helps for critique if you number them.

Thank you for all the critiques, very helpful :)

The hot spot on her forehead in #1 just flat out kills it for me, and the cars in the background of #3 also kills that one for me. For the most part, I feel like these are very flat and pale. They look desaturated, but not is a good way. It looks like these were scenes with a very high dynamic range, and that you pulled the highlights way down in post, and pull the shadows way out, resulting in way to much that is in the midtone range and a washed out flatness to them that I find very bland. Also watch out for your backgrounds in general. Lots of trees growing out of ther head and shoulders. Very lovely girl, go give it another try!

Thanks for the critique, but I think that was a little harsh! Maybe something positive next time, in addition to all the negatives!
I personally am proud of those photos. Myself, the make up artist, and the model were very happy with them! I just wanted to see what other people thought! Wasn't expecting to get a response like that!

I guess I'll keep quiet, lol.

Well, maybe this isn't the place for me to post my photos. I guess I need to post them where people actually appreciate them! I read in a lot of places that this forum was friendly but I guess not!

Please do not mistake well-intentioned negative critique for being unfriendly. If you took offense to anything I said, I'm genuinely sorry, and that was not my intention.

But if you are only looking for compliments and lip service on your images, than I guess you're right that this is not the right place for you. There are some good critique givers on this forum, who have good eyes, are knowledgeable and put time into there critiques. And if that means saying negative things, that's the way it will be.

Negative critique is far more important than positive. Most of us already know what we did right in an image, but it often takes someone else to point out what we did wrong or could have done better. If what you really want is to improve and grow as a photographer, then you will set aside your ego and learn to accept, contemplate and eventually cherish well intentioned negative critique.

You say that you thought it was unkind, but if the goal of this whole operation is growth and improvement, than the most unkind thing I could do is just say, "Oh those are beautiful, you did such a great job!", and not point out anything problem areas that needed to be addressed. Positive comments make us think we're great; negative commens help us stay grounded and realize that we're not.

I hope you'll stay and grow.
