[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Ihave recently been offered a new job, and am looking for somefeedback from photographers about a question before I decide to takethis job or not. If you can spare a minute and help me that would begreat.[/FONT]


[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]First,about me and the job, then my question. I live in Japan, and work inmarketing, also translation work. I did university in Japan and havebeen here for 13 years. The job is with a printing and graphiccommunications company that wants to expand part of their operationto foreign markets, and wants me to take over this expansion. Mywife's uncle is good friends with the company president and knows I'mlooking for a new job. [/FONT]


[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Thepart of the company that they want to expand is basic photo and imageediting service, which they currently do for Japanese clients.Clipping path, masking, retouching, basically the non-creativephotoshop stuff that designers and photographers don't want to do ontheir own and outsource the boring work. I know a little about itfrom my amateur photography hobby, but only sketchily.[/FONT]


[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Myquestion is how much demand is there for this type of work in the USand Europe, or other markets? This company is doing alright withtheir Japanese clients: publishing companies, printing companies,photographers and designers doing stuff like clipping big batches ofpictures for catalogs or magazine layouts and whatnot. By providingJapanese standards of quality at the low prices you find in theIndian outsourcing places, I think we can do ok, but its hard to findreal data about the demand for this service, and I want to get anidea of what I might be getting into.[/FONT]
