I've decided to start properly archiving and cataloguing my negatives. It's been easy getting through the last couple years, because I've kept pretty good track of the cameras and film I've used. However, I'm now starting to hit the years where I wasn't so good at keeping track.

I'm having trouble identifying this roll of film. It's slide film, 36 exp. On one edge it says "R100 052" every few frames, and on the opposite edge (which shows frame number), at the end of the roll is "48B705". I haven't been able to find either number by Googling.

Does anyone know what this roll is? Or even better, does anyone know of some kind of comprehensive edge code list that isn't brand-specific? I'm sure I'm going to run into this problem many times in the coming weeks.

I’m thinking it’s Fuji, because I’ve just also done a roll I’m pretty sure is Sensia 100, and the style of the edge markings is identical...but the numbers themselves aren’t. So I’m still a bit confused. I can’t find anything from Fuji with these particular numbers.

That's Fuji film.....Page 6 will show you what those numbers are........... https://www.fujifilm.com/products/professional_films/pdf/velvia_100_datasheet.pdf
Thanks...that does help in terms of deciphering what the codes generally mean, but not so much in terms of deciphering what this particular roll is, as nothing I can find through Fuji lists the "R100" identifier.

However, I found a post on a different forum from a couple years ago that satisfies me—I think it's Fuji Provia repackaged as Agfa CT Precisa. Apparently Agfa bought stock from both Fuji and Kodak and repackaged as Precisa; the "R100" is probably a generic identifier Fuji put on it. This would check out, as I do recall buying a bunch of Precisa on eBay when I first wanted to try out slide film. I realize there is also an older Fuji film called R100, but it seems they stopped making it decades ago, and I don't recall ever having any.

Thanks for the comments—I may have more film code mysteries, and if I do I'll post them here rather than starting new threads.
