Filters on a Canon S5

I bought a set of filters for my Canon S5 (CP-l UV FLD) how ever what happens when I take a picture with on of these and i goto correct the levels in gimp they are flat is this normal?

Could you word that a bit more clearly?
Do you know what each of those filters is to be used for? Before you can use them properly you have to know when and why to use them.
