I went to Hunts photo today and picked up a umbrella, stand and mount. Oh and a lens pen

my wife feels awkward modeling for me so is there any other options I have that will mimic a human?

Tthey should govern how many books of one category is put in book stores, I went to Barnes and Nobles to look at photoshop books and photography books and I was so overwhelmed with how many authors wrote books about the same thing, I walked out with nothing. How do you choose?

I've been blessed to have been given hundreds of titles by the college I teach at on occassion. How do I choose what I would buy? Other recommendations, information from classes I've attended. Photographers I admire and respect.

Ask advice here. Find authors you like and buy everything they put out. I read pretty much everything Scott Kelby (general how to from lighting, to shooting, and especially photoshop), Joe McNally (the absolute OCF wizard, one of the most respected and famous photographers in the world) and Michael Freeman (best author on composition, and a danged fine photographer in his own right) put out.
