Well, my first reaction was - Are those colours real? Assuming they are, then you have truly caught a fiery sunset. If they are not real, then you have oversaturated the picture. From a compositional perspective, your horizon, which in this case is the "shoreline" runs almost through the middle of the image, usually a not a desirable thing. I am also not sure that I like the trees in the foreground, maybe this is just a personal thing, but I think they detract from the sky, which I assume is your main emphasis for this image. I also think that I would clone out the antenna in the right middle and maybe even the lights in the buildings in the background. Just my 0.02¢ FWIW.

Agree about cloning out the antenna and lights. I like the trees and rocks, they give depth to the photo, which I assume was your goal, and your depth of field was well executed because each level is in pretty good focus. The centered horizon doesn't bother me so much on photos with sky and reflections, but it might look even better with more either on the top or bottom.

I can tell that the sunset color is pretty close to real, not oversaturated at all to me. You might try playing with your white balance (assuming you shot in raw), sometimes adjusting more to the shade or cloudy range will give a little more depth and pop to the sky bringing it closer to actually color.

I like the rocks and trees up front. It gives a "trees on fire" type of scene.
I also love the red reflection on the two "pools" before the trees and rocks (versus any reflection beyond the trees). I think it helps alot with the depth of the photo.

I also like the crop to make the photo wide. Not cramped looking.

The antenna is annoying, nothing a big hacksaw can't fix though next time you are out there :)

Thanks for the feedback. The colors are actually very close to how the sky looked. I was putzing around in the park, looking to the south east, and I happened to look over my shoulder, and was amazed at how firey the sky was!

Appreciate the comments and suggestions! I applied a warmer white balance, and I liked it at first, but when I toggle back and forth, I can't make up my mind..

Since I got three for three telling me the antenna must go, it went! Thanks for the comments. I too liked the different pools of water to reflect the sky. I think it was one of the reasons I spotted that outcropping right away.

Here's a slight modification. With the warmer WB and antenna removed. Thoughts on the adjusted color?

Over all I like it. Wish there was more sky as my personal taste for sunsets/sunrises is lots of sky in the images.

Ilike the darker or more fiery red. Looks great!

I have some photos that look unreal too but the reds were like this. It"s just being in the right place at the right time.

Thanks! Normally I'm in the same boat regarding wanting more sky. If I had been 10 minutes faster, I could have captured more, but the sun was setting fast, and by the time I got these shots, what you see is about all that was left. Any higher and the sky turned back to a dull grey...

Appreciate the comment! I agree, the more I look at it, the more I like it, too.
