This client needed headshots for an upcoming acting audition. The rules were pretty strict, no full body shots, no posing (model type posing), always smiling, no black and whites (although I did a few for fun for me), dark background, no outdoor shots. I was like...oh goodness. Lol. So we went to a mill building and did some shots there, but the lighting was awful so they didn't turn out great. The 'studio' shots were done in her 8x8 dining room but the SB-600 worked pretty well for me. Let me know what you think! (I am definitely more of a sports photographer!)

maybe its my screen but i think the 1st is a bit blurry?
Anyhow the pics are good....

It's not only in the first that I think her eyes are too soft, it's in several others, too. I always clicked on the bar above to view them larger and it feels like you smoothened her skin and didn't spare the eyes?

Personally, I don't favour the lighting in 3 and 4 as much as you seem to do, I find it gives you too many shadows, therefore my feeling tells me that 5 and 9 look most appropriate for what they are meant for (though admittedly those are the most "conservative", too) - but in all I find her eyes too soft.

I agree with LaFoto. Maybe a reflector would have helped with the harsh shadows..

Other than that, I do like the photos!

Thanks for sharing.

WHat is going on in frames 6,7,and 8? Her face appears to be stretched too thin, and too tall...were you messing around in post?

I wouldn't know the first thing about morphing body parts in PP lol so no, I didn't do anything to her face. I am not sure why they look so different. They were all shot at the same angle.

I sharpened the eyes in most of the photos, but some of them I left them unsharpened. Perhaps I should go and correct those?

Her agency liked them anyhow. Next set we get to do is an outdoor set with graffiti and a train tressle. Can't wait for those ones! Natural light baby! Lol. Just have to wait for the wicked snow to go away

Thanks all!

Some of the poses look ok, background is a little too grade school portrait, they all look like they have been overworked in PS, skin looks too smooth, it looks like plastic. Big shadows under her chin and on the wall behind her in a couple. I suppose if her "agency" liked them then that's all that matters. Based on these images shooting outdoors should produce some new challenges for you. Would like to see the original untouched files.

I think that a softer (larger) light source would be better. The shadows are very hard.
I'm also seeing that some/most of them are soft...I'm not sure if that's a focus issue or not.

And I'm not sure if this was an issue with her or the agency...but the title of your thread said 'Head Shots'...but I'd say that all of these are too wide/loose to be true head shots.
