First Photo upload! Be nice...!

i bout my DSLR June 2012 as i was going on holiday and wanted a decent camera. i didnt know how to use it and it frustrated me so i began to learn and done a 10 week course for beginnersat the end of 2012
This shot was taken 6 months ago - one of my first 'good' pictures (well in my opinion)
Let me know what you guys think!

I can see why you like this shot. The clouds are beautiful. There's some nice things going on in the top half of this image.
Toward the bottom is where things fall apart for me. I think getting in front of those posts (lamps?) would have been better.
Then the bottom of the frame would have been just water. You get a hint of how that might have looked.
The black strip at the bottom doesn't really work. The only reason you have it there is to give some context to the posts, but it's too small and only distracts.
There may have been reasons you couldn't get closer to the water, but if you get the opportunity to go back there, you should try.

That black at the bottom is actually a playpark with a pool and then a wall and the poles are right up with the wall so u cant get near it
But yes it would have looked good if there was water at the bottom of the frame

You could have taken some more shots very close and very wide angle with the poles.
It would have made them look more unreal ... under the coloured sky.
Always try different ways of seeing the same thing by taking advantage of the lenses field of view.
