First Post, First photoshoot - C&C requested

Hi everyone,

Recently bought a Nikon D90 body and the Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens. Pursuing photography as a hobby and artistic outlet.

I just want to be a good photographer and think this forum can really help. I won't be posting very much for now, just a lot of reading.

But I would greatly appreciate any feedback you may have on my photoshoots. Here are a few pics from my first venture this weekend.

1. Dubai Offshore Sailing Club - Chemical Store Room

2. Souk al Bahar - Lit up in the fountain show outside Burj Khalifa

3. Marc Jacobs mannequins in the window of Bloomingdale's at Dubai Mall

Hello and welcome. I would respectfully ask you not to bump a thread that you only posted today just to get it moved up. Not cricket as they say. ;-). I noticed that your pictures are not level and that stands out quiet a bit. Nice colours in the 3rd one. Number 2 seems to be out of focus or you had a long exposure (as indicated by the water) and the whole camera moved. I would say that you need to work on learning your camera. keep it level and watch your focus. Good luck and hope to see you around.

1. Isn't really that interesting to me. In addition, things along the top are cut off.

2. Again the top feels cut off.

3. Not a fan of the crop. I feel like the black is just dead space that doesn't really add to the value of the photo. A closer crop might work better IMO.
