I know some will say "Too much dead space". I think the dead space works well in this SP. Very well done. Did you take it yourself (via remote) or have a helper?

Thanks! And i used the camera's self timer of 10secs to snap it

and i focused the camera by tapeing a sock to the end of a broom stick and putting where my face was, using autofocus i focused it, the switched to manual mode to hold that spot

I like it... I too like the dead space, but I wish it led my eye somewhere...

I would have shot this exactly as you have it (maybe with a little brighter light, but just a touch)... but I would have put a strobe with a snoot on it, way up high and a few feet further from camera, pointing down along your eyeline and put either some dust, (a new towel shaken vigorously works well) or a lttle bit of fog, in the stream of light to make a cone of light that shines along the eyeline. Doing it this way would allow you to expose the subject and the visible cone of light independently to create a more atmospheric effect. It kind of looks like this photo is meant to have that element....

Othewise, however... I like the fresh take on a self portrait...

YES! This was pre abduction. You do NOT want to see me post abduction... Talk about a huge head.. phew.. oh wait, Ive had that since before the aliens.. :/

Just for fun I would put a small light orb on the top left corner like a firefly.

I too like the composition and the lighting.
I think the choice of underexposing slightly was a good one - when I look at it I think to myself "I wonder what he's looking at..."
