Moon by Trevor Baldwin, on Flickr

The moon, over done subject? Yes!
Do we love it anyway? Yes!
Will we take more pictures of it? YES!

Nice shot Trevor.

Thank you.

It's funny, isn't it? The only thing that changes about it is the amount we can see, but we just can't stop photographing it. There is, however, much difference in quality of these pics, and yours is in the better half!

Super clarity and the best phase of the moon to capture the light & shadow interplay. I love astronomy. I own a Celestron C11, which features a whopping 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain Optical Tube Assembly. It's certainly a joy to view the moon, planets and especially deep space objects.

The moon is like a Great Egret, snowy white against a dark background and even though I have shot one more than a thousand times, I never fail to take another shot because each is always unique unto itself.

[Jeff G]

My only gripe with the moon is that I can't adjust my light source.

Of course you can...close down a stop and make it darker or open up a half stop and make it lighter.

[Jeff G]

But I want the light source to come from the bottom not the side.

Who says that's not the bottom of the moon. It just looks like the side from here.
