ok its christmas time and i think im gonna get a flash. any suggestions? i have a rebel xs and im getting into portrait photography but i still want a versitile one. oh and it has to be relatively cheap.

Since you want to do portraiture you need to get the speedlight off the camera. So, get a Vivitar 285Hv ($90 new) and this radio trigger set ($130 for both the speedlight and radio trigger set).

You'll even have a 2nd receiver already when you can afford to get a second $90, 285HV.

I have 4 of the 285HV's.
