Thats a great pic must be a young one :)

Nice image! The crispness is really nice.

I dont know the bird or its natural colours, but it seems that the black on his head is more grey than actual black. Might be normal though, I dunno :)

Looks normal for a juvenile robin to be exactly that coloration.

Cool, thanks! Makes the nice shot even nicer :)

Thanks Derrel, I was wondering why it looked a little different (color wise) from the other one I saw around.

So I search for "juvenile american robin" and found the descriptions that matches with this bird.

Looks like he is learning to fly. We had a baby shrike rest in our yard earlier this year. Your image looks astoundingly similar!

Im suprised you didnt see either of the parents around keeping an eye out.

See the little whisps of his downy underfeathers on both sides of the head? That's so,so cute!! Robin babies spend up to a week on the ground after fledging...they leave the nest barely able to fly, and ground predation is high at that critical time...the mamas and daddies are often nearby and will actively pretend to be crippled whenever predators appear, usually faking a wing injury and hopping along while noisily cawing, drawing cats and foxes away from where their vulnerable fledglings are.

Now come and think about it, he/she did not move around or flew away while I was taking photos of him/her.

Couple more for this Robin.

First one is excellent; rest are very good
Is it in the first image or last image the robin is looking at the camera, i wonder....if it is in the first, what it does with the other eye on opposite side , i wonder? can birds focus on two different things on opposite sides at the same time? Eager to know all these things
Regards :sun:

Thanks!

I do not know about the first one, but for sure he/she was looking at me in the last photo.
