I think it's an onion Ron...but it is a bit difficult to be sure, for sure. I looked at it and thought, "What the hell IS that!?" But now...now I'm leaning toward onion...

Onions are so easy to recognize...thin skinned, clear "petals" and flaky brown peels...I thought it was obvious, but now guessing not. Onion, it is.

Bet it was damn tasty, you can't beat homegrown veg.

It was obvious. Some people are only exposed to onions when they're breaded and fried and handed to them in their cars.

To be fair unless you're a gardener then probably as close as you're going to get to it is the clean, well presented specimens you buy in the supermarket, a lot of veg can look pretty manky when it's dug from the ground.

It seems to be an onion that is making a strong play to be more onions. I like it. It's a great palette of colors.

Interesting. I sense it is trying to transcend its "onionness"

I, for one, welcome our new onion overlords.

Thanks, everyone. I did quite a bit of work to get the onion more "onion-y" for a better visual impact. Here is the raw image (saved as a jpg):
