Funnel cloud

This came near my house a couple weekends ago. I think it's further away than it looks in the pic. I got a shot with my daughter standing in the foreground, i just wish I would have used a smaller aperture to get the funnel cloud more in focus. They turned out pretty cool though.

Holy hell!! I would of been terrified! The one w/ your daughter is going to be epic when she grows up. Once in a life time shot....:thumbup:

Making the aperture smaller won't do much. You need her to be farther from your camera. Nice capture!

It's nice to see that you haven't made your daughter afraid of storms. My grandson is terrified of bad weather (thanks to his parents). He's three and runs around the house screaming, "A tornado is coming, a tornado is coming!!!" I finally asked him if he even knew what a tornado was. He looked at me dumbfounded and then ran off and ask his mommy what a tornado was... :mrgreen:

LOL! My little brother used to be afraid of storms. One night, he came into my room all scared and I took him out to the couch to watch lightning. I told him it was like the TV when it was staticy. The flashes were the white dots, and the rain was like the black dots. The thunder was just our stepdad yelling at Nascar. I think it worked. ^.^

Great shots! I wish I could have been home in WI during all the awesome storms! i'm in Colorado, and we simply do not get storms.

Cool Shot. I'd chased it.
If it reached the ground it's no longer a funnel cloud. Can't tell from that distance for sure except as clear as it is around the vortex and as dark the actual tornado is I would say it's pulling up debris thus touching the ground.
