Genbaku 'Atomic' Dome

This was one of very few buildings left partially standing after the Hiroshima bomb and preserved in the state it was in at the time, it is now part of the 'Peace Park' area which is at ground zero next to the bridge that was used to target the bomb drop.

I would like to say I like no. 2 but how can you like what it represents so I will stick with I prefer no. 2. The modern buildings behind it bring the phrase "Phoenix rising from the ashes" to mind.

There is actually a large 'Peace Park' in front of the building and across the river, behind is still some parkland but just like everywhere I guess the city encroaches further.

I owe my life to the atomic bomb, my father was a Japanese prisoner of war after being taken in the fall of Singapore. The swift ending of WWII was made possible by the dropping of these bombs helped my father get rescued by American forces. Without this I would not have been born.
