My theory is that there are some serious time constraints when bringing the picture to Television. First of all the gang believes that people can not pay attention for longer then 1.5 hours. Take that and add commercials... let us just say that picture is going to be butchered. I tried to watch Scoresese's (sp?) "Casino" on TV and it was a nightmare. A lot of people work hard on pictures. It is not fair that TV can ruin that.

You are definetly the authority here, because unlike my wife (she loves all the books and movies including the one currently in theaters) I have no idea. None the less continent specific versions of the film is intriguing.
