mbp power in a small form factor. even with all the bells and whistles (720gb 7200rpm hdd) installed its less than 1400. thats with ram upgrade, keyboard and mouse. you could throw in the extra ssd and you're still just under 2k...

quite a small beast i think.

I'm actually pretty upset that Apple is starting to phase out optical drives in their computers. Normal macbook is now replaced by the Mac Air (no optical) as the entry level laptop and the Mac Mini is now optical drive'less.


Even though I don't use my drive much on my mbp, I still like having it as an option. As far as the mac mini goes, I've never been sold on it. I'd rather pay 1400 for a mbp and a 10 dollar chord from monoprice and hook it up to my tv that way and still have the mobility of a laptop when not.

look i personally dont even own a mac...

im not saying you're wrong. i know the arguments. i for one have also sided (staying neutral here). but i'm not one to ignore whats available elsewhere and the benefits they may bring (even if they're slightly more costly)...you wouldn't deny the benefits of a d700 but you're not going to tell me there's more to be obtained from a d7000? this is no diff. its about what we need and what we can get..

but form factor + apple stability (lets not go into the debate of ethos or methodology between a windows system and an apple system. i know it well and im sure we've all read it.) at that price given how a premium tag is usually associated with an apple product. i say its a pretty good deal.

hehe to be honest i find it funny too esp how long winded it can get but ive seen far too many threads get side tracked so badly i had to put my foot down early...cause i just wanted this to be informative. i mean that right there is a pretty darn good machine and you might not be able to use it like a laptop but you certainly can take it to a friends house (for whatever reason you might do that) but can def be carried around if you travel with a small screen in tow lol
