Well I have to say that's the first time I've seen an over-cooked black and white image.

I didn't even know that was possible.

IMO, yes... but then I don't like the more intense HDR stuff. Some people do.

I would say so to.. the beauty of a bw image to me is the fact it focuses on lighting and details. this hosed both of them.

I was going for a feeling that reminded the viewer of mind altering substances or perhaps a very bad fevered dream. Does that come across at all?

weird, the HDR didn't fix the horizon line...

The main issue is that the clouds move during each exposure and looks very odd, like you embossed the cloud layer.

Then the statue almost looks smoothed? like plastic? like massive amounts of noise reduction was used, to the point it's getting posterized. There's a bit of haloing around it as well.

The conversion itself aint bad, could use a touch more blacks.

I don't see that the scene had sufficient dynamic range to justify making multiple exposures for an HDR.

Originally i went with a lot of blacks, but i guess i've over compensated and removed too much black, i could bump up the blacks a little bit. Also there was barely any noise reduction, the way i've processed this image is probably why it looks posterized. This isn't meant to look like anything you would view with a sober mind, i want to make you feel uneasy when you look at this.

Thank you for the advice, but i've only started recently getting my toe wet in hdr and i'm only guessing right now as to how i'm going about it. I definitely agree that this scene doesn't have nearly enough dynamic range, but if i never tried this shot, i would have remained ignorant. Would you agree with that assessment?

I'd use one of the exposures and mask in the clouds from it. Otherwise I like it.
