Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Let me know your thoughts. This was done in PS with layers and no plugins.

Still pure white (255:255:255) in the sky and a lot of nearly black (5:5:5) in the shadows.

I think I'm going to have to do some masking to get rid of it. Any comment otherwise?

How many exposures have you used?

Three by two stops. I don't have photomatix or the like so just playing with layers in PS. I think that I would have more control in a node based editor like Composite where I can play with the mask values easier. Photomatix is on my long wish list, need a new tripod first.

IMHO, just because a photo is processed with multiple exposures, doesn't mean that it isn't right to have blown highlights or crushed shadows in it. Maybe he just wanted to bring certain areas of the image into the range while leaving the sky white and the shadows black? I think the processing looks pretty good and I like those deep dark shadows.

Thanks, the sky is just about white in all the exposures as it was very overcast. I did a quick mask and added blue when I was working on it but it wasn't good enough to use and needed more work then I had time for. I to like the blacks, I do think it is still to hot in areas.

I'll process more and post an update next week.

That's not an HDR by any means....

It has potential. I'd like it with details in the shadows as well, I think.

I increased it by 1 fstop and used a bit of Shadow/Highlight.

Thanks, I think that is a bit better. What do you mean by "used a bit of Shadow/Highlight."?

D-B-J. I don't follow, how about an explanation to go along with the statement. Statements like that are not helpful to some one trying to learn.

Thanks, I give it a go and see what I can do with it in Composite instead of PS.

Shadow/Highlight is a tool of Photoshop. It is user adjustable and can put more detail in shadow areas and more detail in highlights as well.

Thanks, I know about that actually, just wasn't thinking:|

I will consider the shoot out idea. Machines are off for the weekend so I will consider posting them next week.
