HDR Shootout - Tractors

One thing I like to do with HDR is selectively add contrast back in. For isntance, I think some contrast would really help the foreground grass. As is, it sort of looks like a glowing mess. Adding a touch of contrast to the clouds and pulling some of the highlights on them could really give them an ominous look. Maybe dodge the tree a bit around the edges to kill or at least soften a bit of the halo-ing.

I think one key with HDR is not to treat the program's HDR output as a final product, but just another starting point, and then doing some post work on it to clean it up.

I agree with this. I have learned that my HDR shots are about 70% done when I'm finished with Photomatix. Then it's on to CS5 to finish touching up.

I was debating if I wanted to do this shoot out but the tractors are so far in the distance that the loss of detail will be high. It seems as they are the subject but yet the are far away.

Sorry I just did not feel like this was a shoot out I wanted to take part in. The image itself is just ok....
