Yesterday I stood and watched as the blades were lifted and fixed in place on a wind turbine on the Fens in Lincolnshire. The whole assembly was lifted by the big crane and the smaller crane kept the lower blade from hitting the ground. There were men on each end of cables from the tips of the highest blades that stopped the wind turning the whole lot and hitting the cranes and column. A man on top of the nacelle (can you see him) went inside and bolted it all together when it arrived up there! It took about twenty minutes and was like a fascinating aerial ballet as the blades tilted and swung and the cranes slowly rotated.

Wow that is masive. I seen a few on a long drive across PA but not anything that size. Nice share.

Thanks Heck. Each generation of wind turbines seems bigger than the previous. I think those located off shore are probably bigger than the one in my shot, but nonetheless it's pretty impressive when you're up close.

I don't know how i would feel if i was the guy on top of the nacelle.

I really like the shot and how you composed it.

Awesome! Yeah the guy on top... What a trusting soul! :D
