Yesterday I stood and watched as the blades were lifted and fixed in place on a wind turbine on the Fens in Lincolnshire. The whole assembly was lifted by the big crane and the smaller crane kept the lower blade from hitting the ground. There were men on each end of cables from the tips of the highest blades that stopped the wind turning the whole lot and hitting the cranes and column. A man on top of the nacelle (can you see him) went inside and bolted it all together when it arrived up there! It took about twenty minutes and was like a fascinating aerial ballet as the blades tilted and swung and the cranes slowly rotated.
