This past weekend I finally ended up doing a hike I've meant to do for a while. Heliotrope Ridge is located on the north side of Mount Baker in the North Cascades. The ridge provides a fabulous view of the Coleman Glacier and also serves as an access point for one of the most popular climbing routes on Mount Baker...
Despite it being mid-September, there were still a fair amount of wildflowers to be found:
The trail forks and one path takes you to an overlook of the Coleman Glacier. This view looks up towards the north face of Mount Baker:
The glacier is heavily crevased and provides all sorts of creative composition opportunities:
Here's a multi-shot panorama from the viewpoint:
Finally, I also hiked up the other fork in the trail which climbers use to access the glacier. Here's a nice wide view of Heliotrope Ridge:
