HELP me pick my first body

Hey guys I'm trying to pick which SLR body to buy please help its really killing me I have friends who are hardcore canon and others who die by nikon and the nikkor lens.

Nikon D800 Body
Canon EOS 5D Mark III

OR

spending a little more and getting a, Nikon D4.

HELP!!!!!

I would spend some time with each model... maybe even rent them for a couple days? They're all extremely high performance cameras, but they have some ergonomic differences between them. I would choose the one that is most comfortable and intuitive, since they're all quite capable. The D4 would be preferred for high speed environments obviously, (as would the Canon 1DX). What do you intend to shoot exactly?

Can you believe how HORRIBLE the noise is in the shadows with the Canon's 23 MP sensor? Can you believe how INCREDIBLY WELL the Sony-made sensor in the Nikon performs in the same, exact scene,using the same Zeiss 21mm lens on BOTH cameras??? The two cameras are leagues apart in this comparison.

Will the Canon's poor noise performance in shadow areas be of concern to you? What do your Canon fanboy friends think? Do you need a flagship-quality camera like the Nikon D4? Can you wait for Canon to eventually ship the 1Dx, sometime later this year, after its third delay???

I'm going to be shooting quite a few things from wildlife to portraits I'm sort of looking for a everything body weight is important but i wouldn't want to buy something just because its a little to heavy.

You're aiming that high for the first DSLR? I mean, if you have the money go for it, but remember that you need to buy lenses to match these cameras... Don't spend all your money in one of this bodies and end up buying cheap lenses...

It would probably help if you talk a little more about your needs and what type of photography you'll be shooting.

Well one of my friends owns a studio I live in a very slow moving mountain village he just won't talk to me about which one to get all he does are weddings which I may plan in the future but for the last week I have been trying to put together a kit I have about 10,000$ to spend I'm buying as a hobbyist but I have goals to become a professional one day my little town's photographers my friends are complete rubbish I have been told so many times the camera doesn't matter but I want to do my work as I see it when I see a shot just like anyone else I imagine what this shot can be used for and what sort of post production is needed.

I just want a camera that can keep up with me and what I decide I want to do which is a little of everything I plan to one day convert my shop into computers/photography and it will be very easy for me since my family also owns all the flower shops in town.

I hope you guys don't think poorly of me I'm not just another hobbyist I have been a IT for most of my life and ever since I got my first junky little macro camera and went out into the bush and started taking really bad shots of birds and bugs its been my life long dream I have not saved up for long and I have 10,000$ right now to sorta get me a starter kit but over the next year I'm going to take for training I hope to spend another 5-10,000$ on all sorts of lenses and other things I will need.

If $10,000 is the budget for the whole kit, I wouldn't spend more than $2,500 on a body...

In the end, the image quality is all about the glass, so it should receive the majority of your budget. You'll also keep lenses for much longer than your bodies, and they hold their value well. You may also want to consider some lighting equipment (though perhaps not right away).

I'd probably be looking at a D700 or 5D MkII, with a nice selection of glass. f/2.8 zooms and a couple choice primes.

Most of my shots in the start will be low light so I want something that performs good at higher ISO and I don't want noise clearly but this 10,000$ is just for a body and whatever starter lenses I will buy some high end strobes with other money later on.

Seriously, you die now!

First body? Honestly, All of these are way too much camera for a beginner. These are professional cameras and you really need professional type of knowledge to use them properly. I would suggest getting something a bit lower grade and learning to use it first before making a plunge like this.

But if you really want to snub them go get a Hasselblad hd-40

I can smell here smell of a rich noob, no offense - Usually folks that go for pro gear and full frame bodies don't ask these questions and know exactly what they want because the went through a long time with lesser gear until they know exactly what they need and want, I would suggest the same for the OP, but damn, if your a millioner or something and its peanuts for you, go for the D800 with "the holy trinity" lenses .
