Help with shots of the moon

I'd like to get this pic lol.
Don't post pictures which are not yours... If you want to show us something like this, you can always provide a link to it ;)

It's lose/lose, I provide an image (not claiming the work) people say don't post someone elses work... I provide a link, people say no one will click it.

No, it's not lose/lose.

People will click a link if you mention the link is to a single image that is not yours.

They won't click a link asking for C&C on 10000 photos in their Flickr account.

Pay closer attention.

The first one is awesome.

also pp plays a role. B/W conversion should be done choosing the filter that gives more detail (typically green).

Here is a pic from my 'new' lens. It's a 500mm f/8 t-mount lens. I got it off eBay for $35. Considering that the atmospheric conditions sucked I don't think it's a bad first attempt.

Please remember that not always focus at infinity is at the end of focus travel: check it through live view, because sometimes it may focus over infinity. However it is easy to see.

THIS. Try to understand the reason behind all the rules, Ballistics ;)

I wasn't focusing at infinity, the infinity symbol is at the end of the focus travel but I wasn't going by that. I was just looking through live view at max magnification to focus and I found that the focus was sharper if I dialed back from infinity a ways, perhaps the lens marking is not entirely accurate. In any case, the conditions didn't seem ideal (high humidity, sky was a little hazy) and at that magnification the moon bounced around like a pinball when I touched the focus ring. This also made it a little difficult as I had to change the focus, then wait for the camera to be still and compare the difference, (rinse & repeat) until I thought the focus was good. Gonna attach my mono-pod to the lens next time (didn't have it with me at the time) to help steady the lens.

 my experience is similar. I know, but never tried, that a better immobilization system could be a bean bag or so.

Well, I have some beanbag rests for target shooting rifles. I will have to give it a try.

Shot with a Canon EFS 55-250mm lens with no tripod. Comments are welcomed.....

That's a bit over edited, no? Looks like a picture out of an old news paper.

Looks kind of hairy around the outside. Like there are fine lines/hairs sticking out.

Ballistic, i like ur photos and actually getting almost the same result as urs. Have you found a way to enhance the quality?
