Help with windows live photo gallery.

It seems like everything is linked, and I want to turn this off.

If I have several sub folders like:


Folder A
Folder B
Folder C

and I move photos into folder C, the photos appear in folder C, B and A.

It seems like if I put a photo into a subfolder, it populates into every folder above it.

I REALLY don't like it that way.

There should be away to move a photo into Folder C and not have it show up into the folders above it.

Some questions...1) Are the three folders A, B, and C at the same level in the folder hierarchy - not sure how this applies, but it helps understand your folder arrangement, i.e. do you folders look like:

Folder A
Folder B
Folder C, or...

Folder A
Folder B
Folder C,

or some variation on the second example?

2). How are you moving the files - drag and drop, cut and paste, or copy and paste?

3). Are you moving the photos with Windows Live photo gallery, or are you moving them within Windows Explorer?

4). Are all 3 folders open in Windows Live photo gallery at the same time?

Need to know this info, to better understand the file structure and the "processes" you are using.

Well I guess its how the program works. It only shows up like that in the program and not the actual directory in windows explorer.

Correct, by default when you click on a folder it will show you all the images in that folder and all of its subfolders. You can right-click the folder and choose "Select without subfolders" to turn this behavior off.

Personally I like this behavior; I create top-level folders by year and sub-folders for each month. So if I want to browse all images taken in 2010 I simply click the 2010 folder. Then I can move into the appropriate subfolders if I want to narrow down to a specific month.
