okay the mergenser was sitting on a log it likes to run away same with the wood ducks the herons fly away quite a bit now but not anywere as much as they are now

Yeah, I have that affect on Herons also ... they know when I am near, and immediately take off.
Looks like a lot of water still around up there.

Yes there is if you come up in the middle of summer there is alot less water and they stay alot closer same with egrets black crowned night herons and other birds

It's great that you do not have to hike in to get the shots.

they still might take off hopefully this year people dont go scaring them on purpose they did that last year about 2 monthes before they leave for the fall and winter
