Hi from Maryland's Eastern Shore!

So I went out today and bought the EOS D60. I am very excited as this is my first serious camera! My purpose is just to take great photographs (as opposed to the pictures I took on the other junk cameras I own). I need help. There must be a 101 guide that explains things that the manual makes hard to understand.

Anyone have any websites, advice, tips or tricks? Feel free to "bring it on"! I am open to everything!

Welcome aboard.

Did you get the EOS D60 (circa 2002) or the 60D?

The manual (the full version, not just the quick/guide) is usually pretty good. But it won't teach you the basics of photography & exposure, which is what you really need to know, in order to take control of your camera. Read up on exposure, shutter speed, aperture & ISO.

Well, this website (forum) is certainly a good place to ask questions...and just about every questions has been asked at one time or another. So you could sift through the old posts.

I've always found 'The Luminous Landscape' to be a good resource. The Understanding Series table of contents
You could start at Wikipedia and follow links from there Exposure (photography) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And of course, you could just Google the terms mentioned above.
