Hiya. Ive just joined the Photo Forum.
Ive got loads of questions but I wont hammer you with them tonight or all in one go.
Ive been keen on photography for many years as part of my fishing having spent many many days and nights sitting on the banks of lakes or in my bivvy and taking a special interest in the birdlife.
Where I live in Scotland I'm out in the sticks surrounded by farmland and woodlands and have developed a real interest in raptors and birds of prey which is why I wanted to join the forum in the hope of picking up tips on that kind of photography so any help I can gain from the many keen photoghraphers on here I would greatly appreciate it so in advance of an avalanche of questions - THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH . . . . . NIVEA

    Welcome to TPF wilmaheaton!

Where are you in Scotland? I'm just outside Glasgow and also happen to be fond of angling (though I mostly angle in the big pond). There's a few of us kicking about in the UK and a couple from our neck of the woods too. Though my main thing is landscapes I'm also fond of photographing raptors, and recently discovered Ardgaty red kite centre at Doune which is really worth a trip if you've not been.

With birding it can be difficult to get good light but long lenses, fast shutter speeds, continuous focus can help. Practise, I'm finding is pretty key. What do you shoot with and what do you want to know?

    Hi Wilma,

Welcome to TPF. Yeah, shooting (with a camera) wildlife, especially birds--is a particular genre with some specific equipment and skill sets. So reaching out to others is a good way to go.

My wife is in Scotland at the moment (hiking tour), hitting Isle of Skye as I type this. She's had nothing but positive things to say so far of her trip. I'm embarrassed to say that the only camera she took with her was her iPhone.

Feel free to "hammer away" with questions.
