Found an old Minolta speedlight with a hot shoe adapter, did some research to make sure it wouldn't fry my camera, then tried playing with it. Made an angled diffuser out of cardboard and aluminum foil (dull side), rubber banded on. As my grandfather would have said... You can't understand something unless you make the most ghetto version possible. Cooper here then decided to see what was going on and...

I can now, actually. Without a flash, it's impossible to catch him because he's ALWAYS moving. These weren't really thought out-my goal was just "GET THE KID IN THE FRAME" The first one was just completely random. I was playing with settings and HI DADA. LOOK, CAMREA.
