Here is an easy trick.

Go to levels and Pop the blacks. Clip them a tad from the left side of the histogram. Then add a sharpener.

Viola, the photo will be more three dimensional.

Also, I cloned out the little bit of hair out of the whites of her eyes.

do you want my just my opinion or why I have that opinion... I like your first one. It is my opinion that a portrait is first and foremost about the subject. Bright vivid colors detract from the person for me.

When It comes to art everything is subjective I suppose so different strokes and all that.
