and even a more yellow looking effect like this:

031207_192146___MG_0837.jpg

any suggestions welcome

looks like vignetting , warm white balance, and some highlight/shadow balancing.saturation thats all ...

google photoshop actions. find a lomo action. you'll have to do it to each photo, but it's super easy.

or if you're using lightroom, google lightroom presets.

I did this in lightroom... one click. it's a little darker than what you might be after, but lightroom and photoshop are definitely your friend in this case.

yeah,

make your own action dont just use one, or else you wont learn how to change things.

This is incorrect. The old film/cross process look is characterized by lower contrast, muted colors, loss in sharpness, highlight blocking in the case of cross-process, and occasionally color casts. Vignetting has nothing to do with the price of tea in China...unless you're imitating an Holga effect. In your example, the vignetting is too obvious (and as noted, unnecessary), the contrast is actually higher, there's no loss in sharpness, you blocked the shadows instead of the highlights, and the desaturation is too obvious.
