How does a thread starter change the title of the first thread?

I started a thread recently, but later realized the question is misleading so I tried to edit and change the title. It appear to have worked until I went back and viewed the posts in the forum. The thread title (link) did not change, but when I click the link and view the thread, the title is different.

Is there any way around this?
Can a moderator fix it for me?

A mod can probably change it. Other than that, you can't change it unless you do it really fast. Within a minute or so of starting the thread, you can change the title. After that, it's too late and it cannot be changed.

if you really need it changed, PM a mod and see what they can do. Big Mike and Overread are probably the two that you would have the best chance of catching online.

That's correct. Members can edit their posts, but they can't change the name of a thread....but we can, so just ask nicely. :er:

FWIW, if it's a simple spelling error, one which can easily be understood by the reader, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's so far off-base it won't make sense, then I'd PM a mod and ask to change it.

For instance, if you started a thread and titled it, "My first phoot post...I messed up..c&c please", I think most would understand the misspelling and move one. But "My first phoot post...I f****d up..c&c please" might warrant an edit.
