How would you have done the text part?

This is my "announcement" to our families (too many to call everyone, but we email a lot. My family would be offended if they didn't get a call or email about this...). I went into Paint, added the blue rectangle to the bottom of the pics (not covering any part of either pic so I could remove it if I wanted without ruining the photos), and added the text.....I'd like critique, and if you have an idea of how to make it look a little less like Paint (I have PE12 but couldn't really figure out if I could add a solid color box....), I'm open to them, and go ahead and edit them if you want.
