I need help scanning my negitives

I scanned these medium format negatives. When I made analog prints last month from these negatives they looked good and free of deformities, when I scanned them they look horrible. There appears to be scratches when I scanned them. The glass looks free of scratches, but looks a little bit dirty. What is the safest way to clean glass on the scanner?
