Haven't posted here for a bit, but here are a few from a couple of weekends around Philly. Camden NJ waterfront has the Battleship New Jersey, poised and ready to go should the need arise. The west side of Philly offers the famous Art Museum and the Fairmount Waterworks that supplied the city with H2O up until about 1915. All with the 6D, and either the 24-105mm or 17-40mm glass. It's not real easy to shoot right in the middle of the day like I did, but I don't have the opportunity to get there at 6 in the morning. As such, please excuse the overexposed look on a couple of them.

I really like the first photo! In some of the pics the color of the blue sky looks off...to me anyway, lets see what some others say.

That's entirely possible. I'm not entirely happy with what my normally reliable B+W Kassegrain CPL does recently, e.g. on the 6D + 24-105 combo. When I bend it around, the VF image looks OK but when I get home the raws seem very underexposed. Next time I go out I may leave it home and see what happens. That, plus the very blue sky and bright sun, and a lot of blue reflections and you get a very cool color temp that's hard to knock down without losing a lot of other colors. And, to top it off, my video card has been getting flaky recently, one day colors look well balanced, and the next they're all screwy. I did make a 20x30 print of the Boat House row shot and it looks fine, many compliments on it, even from non-family members. If we ever get some green grass around here maybe I'll be able to find something that's not so dam' blue everywhere.

I wish I had more free time when I go up there (about once a month), but it is typically all work related (an account at the Cira Center), then back on the train to DC. Looks like there is a lot of fun to be had there, asides from the typical touristy stuff. I have a friend that lives there, takes some great shots, and manages to find some really unique/out of the way places. <insert shameless plug> Flickr: JW0LFE's Photostream

I wish your shots were in a numbered order so I could c+c more, but where is number 4, second down on the right, with all the white marble structures?

Sorry about that. That is the Fairmount Waterworks, just past the Art Museum along Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill.

1 is the Philly Skyline from Camden, NJ
2 is Boathouse Row along Kelly Drive
3 is onboard the USS New Jersey
4 is the Waterworks
5 is a view down Ben Franklin Parkway from Art Museum steps
6 is the eastern Portico of the Art Museum, on your right as you go up the steps. It is the only one with the painted statuary.

That's great, thanks for the update! A couple of places I would like to checkout. I like Philly, it's a great little city, lots of hidden gems to be found, and a pretty good food city. Next time I am up, I am going to take some time to check out the waterworks, that's for sure! Not too far from where our account is, and I'm typically done in the city by 4PM, so should be able to do some sunset shooting.

Yeah, the Cira is just a couple of blocks away. You can walk up, cross over the Spring Garden Street bridge, and be right there. I was born in Philly, and worked downtown for much of the 80s before all the big buildings went up. I've been through 30th street a billion times what with Amtrak to Wash. & NYC, points north. The first time I saw the Cira building there, it blew my mind. I hadn't been in town for several years. I have to say, I like the building but it looks somehow out of place out there. Here's the Cira Center, and a shot towards Center City along the Schuylkill.
