Hi Guys

I've had my Metz 36 AF-4 hotshoe Flash for just under a year. Its a great flash but I feel it's slow during a shoot.

It's not instant like other flashes. There are 3 short burst flashes before fully flashing to take the picture. This shows down a shoot.

I've got a Nikon D5000. I've adjusted the shutter speed on the SLR, replaced the batteries on the flash to no avail.

Please see the video links below:

Please help

Thanks

I'm not a nikon guy nor am I a user of off-brand flashes. But is your flash on "high speed" or something similar? I'd also look within the camera settings to see if it's set to high-speed shooting

I'm not a metz user, but I have a Nikon. :)
Check if your flash is in "red-eye" mode. In that case your flash sends out 3 preflashes before taking the actual shot, so that the subject's pupils shrink and lower the possibility of red eyes. I personally rarely use this feature, because it prevents you from taking the picture exactly when you hit the shutter.
To turn it off, check your settings in the camera (if there's an eye sign on the side of the flash sign on your camera LCD). Press the flash button on the side of your camera and rotate the main dial wheel to change the setting.
Or it might even be a setting in your speedlight (I don't know how Metz's speeedlights are designed).
Hope this helps!

So? Have you managed to sort the problem out? :)
Regards!
