No worries, you could cheat and add some more space at the top in post, certainly doable with this shot.

I like it as a statement piece.

It seems to me that you have no interest in a formal portrait here but are conveying the attitude of the subject and you seem to have gotten it.

Maybe it is cropped too close at the top, but how Mike said, it's not a formal portrait, but rather shows the character of your dubject and in such a context the tight crop is helping to "jump" this feelings out of the frame. I like the picture, it is a dynamic, living thing.

I would try a close crop of the face to show just the eye, nose, and forehead. Then it would be a real abstract of the face. Two Lane Highway

I really appreciate all the kind words. I try to capture as much personality as possible when dealing with people, but definitely have a long way to go!
