That is Janice Joplin's car, but it's possible it was repainted.

Wow!! Karma. I just watched a youtube clip of Janis playing "Down on me" on a different tab and when I switched back to TPF this was on top of active topics. Great shots.

What a shame,poor Porsche. What's pretty amazing is at only 88 HP, it still managed to top out at 110.

poorly at that.

it's also missing the side-views on the fenders. the sidemarkers are the wrong color (yellow instead of clear). there's extra chrome details added on the soft top. the license plate surround is wrong. hubcaps now have a logo stamped in them.

I feel duped.

EDIT: I did find this: "Once, the car was stolen and rattle-canned gray… but Joplin recovered it and found a body shop to restore the custom paint job." and "Several replicas of Janis’ beloved 356 have been built over the years. The original (itself restored several times) sits in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. "

so that would explain it.
