I like the photo.. but I have to say a lot more can be done to improve it.
Right now the lighting is fairly dark on it. While in and of itself is not to bad because the sand is lit up and attracts the attention some what. But that brings me the thing seaweed or what it is dead center of the picture. That attracts the eye way to much and detracts from the entire picture. I do have to ask.. what is the main subject of this photo?? Is it the sand? The lighthouse? The Ocean? The Horizon or the Sky? I am asking because it is not quite clear as to what it is. The horizon line if lifted or lowered to the two-thirds mark would clear that up some what instead of it being dead center like it is now. Right now it is just a good picture, the tones of the sand and such could benefit from some more post processing. Or if the original had been taken maybe with a HDR type of process? This could be so so much better in my opinion such that it is

Thank you all for your comments. I'm especially grateful to Nikmal for analyzing the pic from technical point of view and coming up with very useful suggestions for improvement and I think this is exactly what we look for by posting pics in this Section. To reply to some points mentioned by Nikmal I would way that the main subject in my mind at the time of taking the shot was to show how beach sand looks at night and that's why almost 50% and 45% area of frame have been occupied by sand and starry sky. I did think about bringing the horizon to lower or upper 1/3 portion of the frame but that greatly changed the percentage of above two components of the main subject. The shot is a single long exposure take with following settings of kit lens Canon 18-55 mm:

Focal length: 18 mm
Aperture: f/8
Shutter Speed: 30 s
ISO: 800
Tripod: (camera was placed on a small table)
Source of light: (that can be seen in the next picture in this thread i.e. fluorescent light coming out of tents)

Here is another shot of the same location. The outer edge of a cliff/rock has somewhat damaged the composition. This is a handheld shot with following settings:

Focal length: 40 mm (kit lens)
Aperture: f/5
Shutter Speed: 0.3 s
ISO: 1600
