Joshua Tree N.P. sunset

Joshua Tree N.P. is @ 30 minutes from Palm Springs, Ca. Yes, this is where U2 got the name of their best selling album, Joshua Tree. These are NOT the trees but another type....?coctillio?
They came on a photo shoot after a concert and liked that Joshua Trees were known as 'looking like a man with his arms up stretched toward heaven in prayer"

This was another bracketed photo for me as I struggle when facing light. I had gone hoping the clouds might give way to a storm and hence better clouds. ..No storm though...

I can always imagine wagon trains in places like this, what did they think, do, smile or frown at this nothingness....
help always appreciated..

The tops of these plants gets all the growth effort so the bottoms are all black and dead. Small yellow 'flowers" on the ends ..
