Just Bought My SB-700!

I know my D5100 can't use the full possibility of the SB-700, but I'm willing to compromise. I'm going full frame soon, so that is no biggie. I'm not going to be in a studio environment anyway. Anyone can give me a rough idea what I should take note of? Is there any exercises I need to do since I'm going to Japan in two weeks? Any tips?

Read the manual!! It really helps more than people think. Also there is a book out just for the Nikon flashes. Nikon lighting systems 2nd edition. I read it everytime I have a question about my flash unit.

Get good rechargable batteries also.

The quality rechargeable batteries are a must as stated before. Also practice bouncing the flash and using it to bounce at different angles to get an idea of the different effects you can create
