Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I have only been playing with it for about 30 minutes but I love it!
I might be over editing but I'm in love.
C&C and if you know any good youtube channels/articles for learning it that would be very much appreciated.

Your second Lightroom edit is much better. The first Lightroom edit the white balance is way off giving him a blue skin tone that almost matches his shirt.

Yeah, I was trying to make him less orange and I guess I went too far. Thank you!

Julieanne Cost has excellent free video tutorials posted on the Adobe website that deal with most basic to intermediate topics pertaining to Lightroom. They taught me a lot when I first started so I recommend those. Nice edits, I think in the second you got the white balance closest to correct.

I hate to say it but you have the best white balance and skin tone in the Picassa edit. Lightroom is a great tool and I use it everyday but you may have gone a little too pink in the last edit.

does lightroom have advantages over photoshop elements or are we talking a different tool altogether?

I have to agree with wogirl. The Picassa one looks more natural. Lightroom does take some practice. In addition to Julianne Kost's videos, Matt Kloskowski has some great tips and tutorials at his site Lightroom Killer Tips | Lightroom Presets, Videos, Tips and News

I'll agree with this on the second LR photo. I pulled the jpeg to LR4 and used the white of His left eye and it brought the temp down -15 but I liked it better at about -10, so that would be something to start with on the original. Made a big difference to my eye.

They are both adobe products. One is geared to photographers (LR) and Elements is a stripped down version of CS (Photoshop). They are really two different tools. Elements will allow you to work in layers, where LR to me really good for most edits and for organizing photos. You can use both together to process a photo.

LR's Develop module, which is the module editing is done in LR, is Adobe Camera Raw (ACR).
ACR was developed for and included in both Elements (PsE 2) and Photoshop 7 several years before LR was released.
Note: The current Photoshop CC is Photoshop 14. Photoshop CS 6 is Photoshop 13.

A consumer grade version of ACR is included as Camera Raw in Elements.
So you can do a lot of the same LR editing in Elements that can be done in LR.

I watched the Chris Orwig Lynda tutorial for an older version of lightroom, and I really liked that, I love lightroom! Once you find your workflow, and a few key presents- it's SO much faster, at least that's how it felt for me!
