awesome! my only thought is, would a different colored backdrop that gave more contrast between subject and background be better?

i don't know, but i do wonder, it looks good with the matching color though . . . so i'm not sure if it would.

How on earth did you make him stop and stay and look and NOT MOVE!?!?!?

I do like the decision in favour of a matching surface and background. It is different from the usual and works as nicely as Thorhammer's green background does with the green Heineken bottle (a thread in Commercial/Product_Photography ).

I use a laser light to get the dogs attention, I also put them on a table to limit their options on how far they can move.
