Your photo reminded me of one I took several years ago at Santa Monica beach, where there were lots of fruit carts such as the one you've captured. Interspersed with the carts were vendors selling brightly colored 'skulls.'

I guess you're referring to the black velvet Elvis-type painting along Venice beach.

You are correct, I still get things confused in California.
