In comparison, I actually like the original better as well, except for the little cart or whatever in the corner.

Agree.

And the off center original is very much in tune with your style. You don't really do symmetrical or formal photography. You tend to be more interested in an experimental kind of narrative. The perspective here reminds me of walking into the door of this place and casually glancing to the left. I even like the cart because it feels spontaneous and gives a visual clue about the rest of the place without adding too much information.
