Layer Opacity Changing

Not quite% sure what's going on, but it's driving me nuts. I generally work one image in PS then copy and paste many of those layers to the next image in a set. For some reason, the reduced opacity layers in the original are mysteriously resetting to 100%. Anyone having a similar issue???
